1 – 4 June (Monday to Thursday) – Individually Guided Retreat (IGR) Entering the Silence (Nether Springs)

Let me rest in Your will and be silent. Then the light of Your joy will warm my life. Its fire will burn in my heart and shine for Your glory. This is what I live for. Amen, Amen.  ~  Thomas Merton

This silent retreat is a time to seek God in the cell of your own heart, in a community of fellow seekers. Each retreatant will be paired with a companion on the journey from whom they can receive individual support and guidance.  Apart from the session of spiritual accompaniment each morning, we will seek God in silence from Monday after Night Prayers until lunch on Thursday.

5 – 7 June (Friday to Sunday) – Community Introduction (Nether Springs)

Please note: Participation in the first evening session is essential for those becoming Novices.

8 – 11 June (Monday to Thursday) – Self-Love(d): learning to love God, neighbour AND self, through the insights of mindfulness (Nether Springs)

We live in a world seemingly obsessed with ‘me time’ and ‘self-love’. Yet, despite that, self-esteem for many is cripplingly low.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength; and to love your neighbour AS yourself’. This week, we are inviting you to explore the extravagant love God has for us; and how the knowledge of being unconditionally loved in this way can be the lens through which we can begin to express greater love for God, others and ourselves.

In Christian circles and church life, the emphasis can, all too often, be on ‘doing’ for others rather than ‘being’ in God. This can lead to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual burnout. Come and join us to discover a healthier rhythm of ‘being’, ‘doing’ and ‘loving’.

Led by Karen Openshaw and Bishop Chris Edmondson. Together they’ve written ‘Self-Love(d) : Mindful Journeys of Learning to Love God, Neighbour AND self’ which the retreat is based on.

15 -18 June (Monday to Thursday) – “Where’s Your Heart” (Nether Springs)

Jesus says: ‘Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also’ (Matthew 6: 21)

An opportunity to stop and reflect on where our hearts are.  We will look at how God desires our hearts to be set right within us and in the direction of and in alignment with His heart.

Led by Community Companions Duncan and Lesley MacLean
