Senan was born near Kilrush in County Clare, Ireland. He became a monk and founded several monasteries, all on islands, including Inis Cathaig, now known as Scattery Island, near his birthplace. Sennan, near Land’s End in Cornwall, is probably not associated with him, although it is possible as the monastery there was acclaimed through the Celtic world for its learning. Senan finally settled on Scattery and later Aidan was a monk there before moving to Iona.
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the great teacher who reveals the truths of God to us. Thank You for Your servants who follow in Your footsteps in this gracious ministry. Help us all, as far as we are able, to pass on the truths You have taught us, so that others may find their right seat and fitting task in Your service. Amen.
