(Description Forthcoming)
A chance to gather in front of a warm fire to reflect upon this classic
tale by C.S. Lewis, to read aloud favourite passages, and to revisit (or indeed visit for the first time) this magical land where Aslan rules. Intended as a reflection for children of all ages (young and old)! Includes celebrating Bonfire Night with the village of Felton at Acton House.
Join in with the life of the house based on the monastic daily rhythm of prayer, work, study/reflection, solitude and community. No set programme or teaching provided, apart from an introduction on the first night. Just time to come and be yourself.
11-14 Mon-Thur AN INTRODUCTION TO SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES £165
An opportunity to learn about and experience some of the spiritual practices such as centring prayer, lectio divina, simplicity and fasting. Together we will explore how they might bring a freshness and a depth to our daily lives as has been found by Christians throughout the centuries in their walk with God.
15-17 Fri-Sun TOWARDS SIMPLICITY £120
This led retreat is an opportunity to focus on the spiritual discipline of Simplicity, both inner and outer. We will be drawing on the teachings of Richard Rohr and Richard Foster and exploring together how this wisdom can be lived out in our everyday lives. If the traditional monastic vow of poverty can be translated in ‘new monasticism’ as simplicity, what does that mean for us?
In the Gospel of John, we find the Beloved Disciple at the Last Supper, leaning against Jesus, lying on his breast, reclining… presumably he was near enough to hear his heartbeat, if he chose to listen. This is a time to receive individual support and guidance as you to draw near to Christ as his Beloved One.
22-24 Fri-Sun HOUSE CLOSED
Spend time with God within the daily life and rhythm of the community at Nether Springs. No set programme or teaching provided, apart from an introduction on the first night. Just time to come and be yourself.
