This led retreat will celebrate through story, liturgy and a pilgrimage to Holy Island the example of St Aidan for missional living today.

This led retreat is an opportunity to focus on the spiritual discipline of Simplicity, both inner and outer. We will be drawing on the teachings of Richard Rohr and Richard Foster and exploring together how this wisdom can be lived out in our everyday lives. If the traditional monastic vow of poverty can be translated in ‘new monasticism’ as simplicity, what does that mean for us?

‘Dear God be good to me the sea is so wide and my boat so small.’ ~Breton fisherman prayer.
Irish monks used boats called coracles to travel on the ocean in search of a ‘desert place‘ in which to commune with God. One of the most famous of these monks is Brendan, who set out from the West coast of Ireland in search of paradise. During this workshop you can make your own full-size coracle to take home. We’ll also hear some of the tales of Irish monks on their journeys and reflect on the coracle as a symbol of contemporary Christian living. Suggested donation includes tuition and all building materials. No craft background necessary--just the ability to use a hammer!

A chance to explore the story of St. Oswald and make a guided pilgrimage from Nether Springs to Holy Island along St. Oswald's Way. This is not an ordinary walking holiday but an opportunity to make an inner journey whilst walking the outer journey. Pilgrims will keep the daily office of prayer and will spend each night at Nether Springs.
