For those of you who visit this site, you will have noticed an absence of new entries. This is explainable for three reasons. Firstly, I intentionally “slow the pace” and try not to take on non-essential tasks, commitments and responsibilities during July and August.
The previous 10 months have seen me travel over 35,000 miles, meeting, speaking or sharing with several hundreds of people and I need time to process, reflect and pray about the journey that has been before I “take to the road again” in the autumn.
Secondly, because of some family commitments, e.g. The birth of Alice, our fifth grandchild and another of Joshua's graduations, Shirley and I are only able to take a series of mini breaks over the summer. We had a wonderful five days at my cousin’s farm in Norfolk in June and we have just recently returned from a wonderful five days at St. Ives in Cornwall with two of our children and all our grandchildren. We are looking forward to attending the wedding of one of my best friend’s son in Aberdeen after which Shirley and I will spend a couple of nights in a Late Rooms in the Scottish Highlands.
But perhaps the primary reason is that I have begun in earnest to write. I have been encouraged and challenged to do so over many years but mostly because of other commitments and time priorities there has just not been the opportunity to spend some sustained time writing. However, I feel that I am beginning to turn a corner and have started to pull together and write some new material on a whole range of issues that will be offered in due course for the benefit of the Community and the wider reading public. It won’t be instant but my writing will, I pray, bear some fruit.
As for blogging, I will continue but not on a regular basis.
Please do take a look at the Advent podcasts if you haven't already done so and do keep visiting the Community website.
Bless you and take care,
Roy Searle
