I hadn’t wanted to be away from home on the day that we were encouraging Community people to mark Thanksgiving Day but at the beginning of the week put an email round folk in the London area asking if any would like to join me on Thursday evening. It was heartening to hear from several folk, many of whom were either doing something else or who couldn’t make it at such short notice, but nevertheless, six of us gathered and had a delightful 2 ½ hours together over a meal at a Kosovo Albanian Restaurant in Kilburn, West London. Shirley and I have eaten there before, the restaurant owner being a friend of Adam’s. We were treated as honoured guests and enjoyed a sumptuous meal, some cracking drinks (shame I was the only one who was driving and therefore unable to participate in the alcoholic varieties) great conversation, good sharing, much laughter, a real sense of communion with God, one another, those waiting on us and the owner himself - a really good Community experience. We paid our bill, left a generous tip and created a thanksgiving offering for Nether Springs at Hetton Hall. A simple thing, virtually anybody could do a similar venture. I hope that we receive lots of stories and some thank offerings sent to the Community in the coming days.
