Following a really time with the Church Army, I made my way to Adam’s place and given the previous long day’s travel, late night, early start and speaking commitments, it was good to put my feet up, watch a programme on iplayer and doze for a little while as Adam went to take the weekly service in a neighbouring Care Home. He used to spend a lot of time preparing and trying to think of something appropriate each week but then started to use the Office with the residents who came and discovered that they absolutely loved it. Now, each week, rather than it being something that was incredibly demanding, Adam has found that the liturgy has taken all the strain and pressure off and brought life to the Care Home residents.
I am privileged throughout my travels to witness or hear of so many similar experiences in so many contexts. The Office is a great source of life and blessing to so many people. Let’s thank God for it.
