There are certain experiences in life that need to be absorbed, reflected upon and considered prayerfully. Such was our experience in Germany. In short it was a remarkable time: enlightening, stimulating, fascinating. Through the experience of meeting with Germans, many of whom were not church folk, but people from the business, educational, counselling and training sectors, there was a glimpse of how the Community’s spirituality touched a real chord in their hearts of those who gathered in Limburg at a conference which was brilliantly hosted by Rainer and Illiona Walde who have been connecting quite strongly with the Community. Their DVD film on Journeying with the Celtic Saints is available from our Resources area and to be highly commended.
Rainer and Illiona shared their life stories in the opening session of the conference and it was very moving and paved the way for me to share about the values of Celtic and Community spirituality to a changing European culture.
Life and the demands of many issues in Community have taken up so much of my time since we returned and is one of the reasons why there has been a slight gap in my blogging. All good stuff, e.g. relocating Nether Springs, Leaders meetings, Baptist Times Holiday week, writing the Prayer Guide, a Northumbria Leadership School and a lecture tour that I am doing with Stuart Murray Williams of the Anabaptist Network, on Prophetic Voices have taken priority over blogging but it is also because I need to create some time next week to reflect on the trip to Germany.
Watch this space and I’ll be back blogging at the beginning of next month.
