At last ~ Staff and Volunteers Retreat

At last we have begun our staff and volunteers retreat!  We were supposed to be gathering together the first week in January but the snow and ice prevented people from either getting in or getting out of Hetton Hall.  In February some of the folks were away and it was only today that we were able to begin a series of four Mondays exploring the theme of what it means to journey with God, occupying the right seat, prepared for the fitting task and with the willing heart to embrace the challenges and opportunities of this big year of change.  I have found the Brendan liturgy very helpful in this respect and used the imagery of sailing to introduce the retreat.  It’s always a privilege to lead, facilitate and guide people on retreat.  It’s no easy task but a privilege and honour to discern and lay before people the issues that touch the deep contours of the soul in a desire to re-orientate our lives towards God and his ways.  But this is our task not just on retreat, it is our vocation and the totality of our life should flow from lives rooted in and orientated towards God and his ways.

Newsflash

Our good friends and Community Companions Martin and Bekah Neil have been intimately involved in a project to record the Wagogo people in Africa, in order to provide wells in their villages. Trust me, you need to buy this CD and DVD set. It may well change your life, and it will certainly change theirs... You can order it from our Resources area.
