Easter Workshop 2005

Easter Workshop was held at Hetton Hall over last weekend, and what a great time it was.

We've created this page to reflect some of what happened there, and Brenda will begin the process of uploading some of the photos in the next few hours! So keep calling back to see the page grow.

If you have stories, recollections, reflections or soundbites on Easter Workshop that you'd like to share on this page, then do please email them to us and we'll try to incorporate them.

On a light note, we were rather full at Hetton this Easter and as Ian remarks.

"Sleeping space was at a premium in and around the Hall for Easter Workshop
this year.

But it looks as though we could have squeezed at least one more
in!

(This was Heather Peters catching the mood from Ian And Joy Corsie's granddaughter Imogen Farley.)"

Stations of the Cross

On the Friday afternoon, we walked upto Cuthbert's Cave, saying the Stations of the Cross. Led not only by the grownups, but also the children. Here Martha Raine took her part in carrying the cross. Also in this picture, Norma Charlton, Elizabeth Addis, and Brenda Grace. sorry impossible to name all the folk in the following pictures as we progress up the hill.

Approaching Cuthberts Cave for the 14th Station, and then the long climb up to the Cairn for the final one.
Having finished, the walk back down to the Carpark for some of us the more energetic walking all the way back to Hetton.
Victor and Tonny, from De Spil in Holland, outside the gates with Rob, Shirley and of course Geordie the dog who had a wonderful time up at the cave.
"Covenanted Together" Sculpture made by the younger children at Easter Workshop.  Eight children aged between one and ten helped create it after we had a short discussion around the concept.  It was very messy and lots of fun, as well as being inspirationally confusing.  This  group were obviously on the same wave length as the adults in the liturgy workshop on the Saturday!
Whilst the Children were creative, the adults had sessions entitiled Covenanted together, teaching and sharing. From our community we had Andy Raine, and Roy Searle speaking, and from De Spil Holland, Victor van Heusen, from YWAM in Holland, Floor Vogelaar, and from Australia, Graham from the Community in Breakwater near Geelong.

Using spices we produced this beautiful picture as on the right, a contribution from Ru.
Pip holds us spellbound by story Mel leads us in a dance
Jo Dowd joined us from Manchester To add to the Easter Eve Liturgy and time of Vigil, we had contributions from Community folk not present with us, ie words and poetry and video. Including from Diane Sekuloff, Canada and Bernie Anderson USA. This Powerpoint presentation was the work of Jo Dowd.
Christ as a Light around the statue of St Aidan on Lindisfarne
'this day be within and without me'

On to the Priory where we had a rather wet time as you will see from the umbrellas that are up.

Led by Andy Raine, we had song and dance.

The labyrinth was walked, One thing I have asked of the Lord was danced with Mel as the solo, and we had the fruits of the dance workshop from the Saturday.

We then moved on to the shore for the Covenant Service.
Alone
and Together
Coming forward for Prayer
Praying for the nations
Leaving to beat the tide.

We left a misty island to head back to Hetton Hall to eat and then get ready for the Ceildah at Hetton Steads.

Following are a selction of the photos from that evening. If you hover the mouse over the pictures a description is seen.

Norma W compere extraordinary, starting us off with a story. The folks were glued to there seats. Norma W's story of the candle helped out by Norma C.
Josh Searle and his uni friends sharing an upbeat version of one of Nick and Anita's songs. It was his birthday so we surprised him with a cake plus all necessary candles. Ru and the Kids sharing fruits of their workshops
Rodney Webb, playing and singing and his chorus of leaders on the Kazoo.
Cinderella, and here are the two ugly sisters! 'Cecil.' I said. 'What have you been eating?'
Margaret Green in character as a storyteller Nick and Anita finished the evening in song.
That only leaves the cleanup party on Monday morning, and yes no-one took photos of them. So thank you for your help.
